Qualifications

  • Early Childhood Diploma (Level II – IV) with Infant Certification
  • AECENL Certification
  • Previous experience working in a regulated child care center
  • Current Emergency First Aid/CPR Certification
  • Current Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sectors Check
  • Experience in a leadership role is considered an asset
  • Experience working in a nonprofit sector is considered an asset
  • Proven Communication skills both verbal and written

Key Competencies

Reporting directly to the Child Care Service Manager, the Centre Administrator will be responsible for:

  • Managing the overall operation of the center, including development of staff, management of policies and procedures, child safety, environmental health/hygiene, and provincial licensing
  • Ensuring that all child care staff members understand the objectives and expectation with the center
  • Managing administrative tasks such as scheduling, work duty assignments, financial claims and general communications
  • Understanding and enforcing all provincial regulations within the center
  • Implementing and ensuring completion of training for all child care staff members
  • Providing effective communication with parents/guardians about their child(ren)
  • Responsible for planning and implementing quality learning experiences in a regulated child care center licensed for children ages 18 months to 5 years
  • Responsible for ensuring the program meets and/or exceed the regulations outlined by the provincial Child Care Regulations and the Policies and Procedures outlined by the YMCA
  • Responsible for delivering the YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum while working in collaboration with other members of the child care team
  • All other duties assigned

Position Details

  • Full time salaried position with paid holidays, vacation and sick days
  • Salary: $37,500 – $41,600 per year (depending on qualifications)
